Workshop on implementation of the Controlled Wood standard in Central and Eastern Europe

13.-14. November, Vienna

The event will focus mainly on countries where FSC published risk assessments, which are in particular Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenian Republic, Poland (southern part), Bulgaria, Croatia and Italy (Northern part). In cases where FSC has identified risks, certificate holders need to implement control measures to mitigate these risks, if they want to use uncertified forest-based material for FSC product groups for the purpose of mixing with claim-contributing input.

Certificate holders report difficulties to identify such control measures and uncertainties, whether such control measures are appropriate and are positively evaluated by certification bodies. The workshop intends to generate a common knowledge level on how to implement the CW standard. Furthermore, the aim is to identify jointly further steps to support an appropriate, effective, and efficient use of the CW standard.

The workshop is planned as an interactive meeting for joint learning, analysis, and collaboration. Therefore, the participants are asked to interactively present and share their experiences and best practices concerning implementation of control measures.

Target group:

  • Management representatives and timber purchasers of Controlled Wood (CW) certificate holders (CH)
  • Consultants and experts knowledgeable on CW implementation
  • Staff of FSC network partners and FSC International
